Team Rise Against Hunger Fundraising Policy

Please read and understand this policy so that you can plan accordingly. It's our goal to offer you an excellent, predictable fundraising experience while ensuring our program is sustainable and available to other runners in support of our mission. Understand that in the event your entry is canceled due to a violation of this policy, Rise Against Hunger is not responsible for any financial commitments made toward the race. In summary, the fundraising timeline is below:

16 Weeks before the race, you should have at least 10% of your commitment raised to show that you have started fundraising.  If you haven't reached this target, you'll be given one week to do so.
Prior to 8 weeks before the race, you can cancel with no commitment
8 weeks before the race, achieve 25% of your commitment
4 weeks before the race, achieve 50% of your commitment
The Wednesday before the race week, achieve 100% of your commitment

Further, your commitment stays until you fill out the cancellation form.

Cancellation and Fundraising Details

Milestone #1: 16 Weeks before Race

Fundraising is expected to begin. Runners can still cancel with no commitment.

You will receive an email from Rise Against Hunger 16 weeks before your race. You will need to have at least 10% of your total commitment donated to your page to show you have started the fundraising journey. If you have not raised any amount outside of the registration cost, you will receive an email stating that you have a week to send out your page.

If you can no longer run, let us know so we can fill your spot. You can cancel without penalty up until the 8-week mark. After that, the policy below is in effect.

To cancel your participation, email race@riseagainsthunger.org

Milestone #2: 8 Weeks before Race

25% of your Fundraising Commitment has been reached.

You will get an email from Rise Against Hunger 8 weeks before your race letting you know you need to have reached 25% of your fundraising commitment. If you are not at 25%, you will be charged the balance to achieve 25%; if the payment fails, we will contact you and give you 48 hours to have a working credit card with enough funds, or else we will give your entry to someone else. If, after you are charged, you raise those funds on your fundraising page, you will be refunded the transaction after the race.

CANCELLATION: If you cancel after this point, you will be responsible for 25% of the fundraising commitment regardless of the reason for your cancellation (injury, job, etc). If, after you are charged, you raise those funds on your fundraising page, you will be refunded the transaction after the race.

Milestone #3: 4 Weeks before Race

50% of your Fundraising Commitment has been reached.

You will get an email from Rise Against Hunger 4 weeks before your race letting you know you need to be at 50% of your fundraising commitment. If you are not at 50%, you will be charged the balance to achieve 50%; if the payment fails, we will contact you and give you 48 hours to have a working credit card with enough funds, or else we will give your entry to someone else. If, after you are charged, you raise those funds on your fundraising page, you will be refunded the transaction after the race.

CANCELLATION: If you cancel, you will be responsible for 50% of the fundraising commitment regardless of the reason for your cancellation (injury, job, etc). If, after you are charged, you raise those funds on your fundraising page, you will be refunded the transaction after the race.

Final Milestone: 1 Week before Race

100% of your Fundraising Commitment has been reached.

Your full commitment is due the Wednesday of the week prior to the race weekend (the first event of the weekend, not your event). There is no cancellation or transfer allowed at this time for any reason. You will be charged the remaining balance of your commitment before the race. If, after you are charged, you raise those funds on your fundraising page, you will be refunded the transaction after the race. Unfilled commitments prior to the race are subject to having your entry pulled and you being unable to legally run in the race. Rise Against Hunger is not responsible for any other financial commitments you have regarding the race.

Rise Against Hunger counts on runners like you to deliver these funds for our programs. In some cases, we purchase these sought-after entries more than a year in advance of the race, with the trust that our runners will successfully meet their fundraising goals. It is our objective to clearly outline the commitment you are making to our mission, and we are proud to honor the commitment we are making to you as a runner in these races.  Please consider these financial commitments when claiming a race entry, and understand that claiming a spot without confidence in your ability to fundraise is taking a spot from another runner who is able to raise the full amount.
